Music Go Round St. Louis was happy to support the St. Louis Blues Society’s yearly education fundraiser this month, which ended up being a fantastic success.
The 3rd Annual Atomic Blues Festival, held June 11 at the Atomic Cowboy, raised more than $2,000 that will go toward education opportunities for young and upcoming musicians in the areas of performance, music journalism, recording studio techniques and developing a career pathway.
With performances by local artists all afternoon and into the evening, including Jeremiah Johnson, The School of Rock, Gene Jackson and Paul Bonn & the Bluesmen, the Atomic Blues Festival included food, drinks, giveaways, raffles, merchandise and entertainment — all in support of our young musicians.
The event also helps promote the tireless work of the St. Louis Blues Society to highlight the history of blues in St. Louis, as well as the region’s legendary blues artists and songwriters.
As our way of showing appreciation to the 20 performers who entertained during the event benefiting our local young musicians, we donated each artist who volunteered a gift card for 10 percent off a purchase, as well as a gift card for 10 percent more than our offer to buy used gear.
And speaking of helping out our young artists, Music-Go-Round St. Louis is currently holding a Summer Buy-A-Thon to build up our inventory of band instruments, as well as guitars and amps. We are paying top-dollar for your used gear to stock the store back up for the fall, when the next wave of young musicians head back to school.
As your kids try new things and figure out their interests, some will find they love music while others will move on to other things. However, you shouldn’t let that discourage you! Even if they don’t stick with it forever, learning to play an instrument has a plethora of benefits for your children’s development, including improved academics, advanced patience, increased self-esteem and more!
If your kids eventually grow out of it, that’s totally fine – you can feel confident that encouraging them to learn offered a distinct developmental advantage. However, you shouldn’t let those instruments sit around collecting dust if they will no longer be used.
Recoup some of your investment and offer another child the opportunity to experience the joys of music for themselves!
Bring in your used instruments today and get some cash in your pocket, or stop by to shop our extensive inventory that includes some of the best used gear in St. Louis!
