You never know what will come through the doors…
This Weissenborn-style Hawaiian Lap Slide was traded in towards a ’20s Martin Uke a little while back. You don’t see one of these everyday, so I thought it would be cool to share.
Lyric Style VI Hawaiian Lap Slide Guitar
A true “vintage” instrument, this is a Lyric Style VI Hawaiian lap slide guitar that dates back to the late 1920s – 1930s. The top appears to be spruce, with the back, sides, and neck all appearing to be koa. An inlay has been added below the bridge, most likely from a separation in the wood.
Guitar is in fair condition; there are two or three body cracks both on the top and back, the bridge is pulling up and could definitely use a re-set. Some discoloration in one area on the back of the neck, as well. We didn’t want to alter the condition of the instrument due to its age and originality, but with a new set of strings it sounds nice and holds in tune quite well.
Such a beautiful instrument both in sound and looks, and the aged koa wood really sings with this one! This is one of those guitars that once sold we will probably never see another one.
