Restring For Charity Breaks Food Donation Record (AGAIN)

April 25, 2019 by MGRSTL

April’s Restring For Charity event supporting the STL Food Bank was held back on April 12, and once again, it was an absolute success!

With the help of our incredible customers, we were able to smash last year’s record donation total. That has happened every year since we started hosting Restring for Charity in 2015!

We can’t thank you enough for your continued support of this great cause. Every year we have set the goal to break the previous year’s record, and you keep stepping up to the task!

This year, we restrung 50 guitars and collected a whopping 440 lbs of food – nearly 20% more than last year and good enough to provide 359 meals for the needy in the STL area!

The bar keeps getting set higher, and the our amazing music community in St. Louis doesn’t back down.

Again, thank you so much for everyone who came out to support this great cause, and we can’t wait until next year as we strive to break the record once again!

Used 2017 FENDER CUSTOM SHOP LIMITED EDITION 63 TELECASTER RELIC

Amazing relic work on this Custom Shop Tele! Very cool, natural-looking wear patterns and absolutely gorgeous finish checking.

Used 1953 FENDER PRO AMP TWEED Tube Guitar Amplifier

It's had a cap job done as well as power cord and handle replacements. Everything else is original as far as we can tell. Amplifier shows significant exterior wear but nothing atypical of a 65-year-old amplifier.

Used EPIPHONE LIMITED EDITION ELVIS JUMBO Acoustic Guitar

Guitar shows a lot of scratching, especially on the back, and some small dings here and there. No structural damage.

Used DE ARMOND PILOT PRO DLX V Bass Guitar

Bass has some spots of heavy scratching as well as a few dings throughout.

What Riff You Gonna Hear?

What Song Are You Gonna Hear At MGR STL?

Wayne’s World started a trend – a forbidden song trend – led by the all-time forbidden #1: Stairway to Heaven. Our opinion is if you can play that beauty – have at it. Masterpiece; always and forever! And, of course there are more on the ‘traditional’ ‘forbidden’ list: Sweet Child O’Mine, Smoke on the Water, […]

Fender Custom Shop

Top Shelf

At our ‘old’ store we had the Red Wall. It was where the cool high-end guitars and basses liked to hang out. It was a glorious attraction. Beautiful select gear framed in crimson for all to see and touch. At our ‘new’ shop we have lots more room. We have lots more inventory. So, we […]

Solid State Guitar Amplifiers

So I’m gonna confess something first and foremost: I’m a tube snob. I love the glass. I love the dynamic push and pull you get from having valves in an amplifier. Valves/tubes/glass – bottles of tone… BUT – let’s talk briefly about Solid State Amplifiers… They have their place. And in many cases – they […]

Ace.

Ace. Yeah, normally we talk about gear. And there will be hints of that here because we, nor he, could do what we/he do/did without the stuff. But. Let’s talk Ace. The Les Paul and Marshall pounding dynamo who has left for space. His home. Jendell in the Klaatu solar system. He wasn’t the most […]
